Deep Traditions of Skill and Quality

The roots of New England Sterling were established in 1862 when Roswell Blackinton formed R. Blackinton & Co. to produce and market high quality leather, enamel and silver goods. The company thrived and grew until the Depression when it decided to concentrate on manufacturing in gold and silver and on repairs for the top guild retailers.

Changes in the Industry

In 1962 Ross Blackinton joined the family business as an apprentice craftsman. Poor health pressed his father, John Blackinton, to sell the business. For a time the younger Blackinton worked for the new owners, then decided to set out and develop his own product ideas for presentation to the retail trade.

A Love of Quality

New England Sterling was established in 1969 with the values of Ross Blackinton's forefathers: exclusive use of heavy, high quality sterling silver and old-world craftsmanship to create a flawless, brilliant finish.

Respect For Craftsmanship

Today New England Sterling is the rare silver house which passes its superb craftsmanship on to young apprentices. Literally every product is hand-made. This esteem for quality attracts custom work including trophies and awards for prestigious events around the world.
